Description

In Terttu, I wanted to recreate the atmosphere of a mystic Finnish berry forest. Like a secret party would be commencing in the twilight.

–Eri Shimatsuka

Handknotted Luxury —

The boheme tones of Terttu are beautifully combined with luxurious, handknotted New Zealand wool. Handknotting makes each piece and “berry” unique!

The 100th Anniversary —

Terttu carpet celebrates the 100th anniversary of Finnish-Japanese diplomatic relations. Japanese Eri Shimatsuka has lived in Finland since 2007 and her works can be found in both countries. Eri’s playful style is inspired by nature and small occurrences of everyday life – something we find in common with our Japanese counterparts:  appreciation of everyday beauty, nature and traditional handicrafts.

Mystical Berry Forest  —

Continuous and rich flora inspires Japanese-born Eri Shimatsuka. ”In Terttu, I wanted to recreate the atmosphere of a mystic Finnish berry forest. Like a secret party would be commencing in the twilight.”

High-Quality Artisan Work —

The Terttu rug is hand-knotted by skilled artisans in India, where the Finarte rug collection has been crafted for over 25 years. Our aim is to combine the local weaving heritage and the Nordic design sensibility to create a shared view on beauty and sustainability.
