“With Tie (The Road) design we wanted to celebrate the randomness of life and unpredictable paths it takes us to.”
–Saana ja Olli, award-winning Finnish designer couple
The Journey Of Life —
Finnish designer couple Saana ja Olli continue their recycled cotton weave rug series for Finarte with the Tie rug. The irregular pattern of Tie is constructed with long cotton pile, gaining it’s inspiration from traditional Finnish rya rugs. The name Tie means The Road, and according to the designers reflects the unpredictable journey of life.
The Beloved Technique —
The Finnish rya rugs were originally made for everyday use and they warmed people and houses as bed covers, carpets and tapestry. With the Tie rug, Saana and Olli are bringing the beloved weaving technique back to the light and airy modern home.
Recycled Materials —
Recycled cotton is not just an ecological choice, it’s also a practical material for all kinds of spaces. The combination of flat weave and tall cotton pile give Tie a soft feel that make it perfect for bedrooms and living areas. Tie is available with grey or brown pile, both used to form the pattern on top of the natural white warp and weft.
Defining Sustainability —
The Tie rug is made by skilled weavers in India, where the Finarte rug collection has been crafted for over 25 years. Our aim is to combine the local weaving heritage and the Nordic design sensibility to create a shared view on beauty and sustainability.
