Mervi Pesonen

Mervi Pesonen is the creative behind RunoDesign and has been an instrumental designer for Finarte since 1996. As a master weaver herself, Mervi possesses an intimate, tactile understanding of the loom, a rare expertise that allows her to push the boundaries of traditional textile structures.

Her impact on Finarte goes beyond design. She has spent decades sharing her deep knowledge by training weavers in India and collaborating closely with our partner factories to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship. Her work is a celebration of heritage techniques reimagined for the contemporary home, resulting in some of Finarte’s most enduring and beloved best-sellers. Balancing her international impact with local roots, Mervi continues to produce her own artisanal collections in small, handmade batches at her workshop in Savonlinna, Finland. Her dedication to the "honesty of the weave" ensures that every rug she touches feels both timelessly Finnish and globally relevant.
