Mifuko

Mifuko is a certified World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) member and a visionary design company that seamlessly blends Finnish design with the vibrant heritage of Kenyan handicraft. Founded in 2009 by designers and long-time friends Mari Martikainen and Minna Impiö, Mifuko’s mission is rooted in social responsibility, today providing sustainable, life-changing employment to over 1,300 women in rural Kenya.

The partnership between Finarte and Mifuko is built on a shared DNA: a profound respect for traditional handiwork and a dedication to preserving craft cultures that are at risk of disappearing. For Finarte, Minna and Mari designed the Mombasa kilim rug, a piece that embodies their ethical mission through a timeless and versatile aesthetic. Beyond their collaboration with Finarte, Mifuko is globally recognized for their iconic Kiondo baskets, which fuse durable materials with the unique artistic touch of each individual weaver.

Mombasa combines Nordic forms to African colors – it’s a breath of hot air with warm colors, spicy scents and salty sea breeze.
