Rooted in the origin of Finarte
Rag rugs are where it all began. From the early designs of Eija Rasinmäki to today’s collection, they represent the foundation of Finarte’s design philosophy.
Inspired by traditional Finnish weaving techniques, our rag rugs reinterpret familiar materials and structures through a modern lens. The result is a collection that feels both timeless and current.

A versatile collection of rag rugs
Finarte’s rag rug collection includes a wide range of styles, from more traditional designs to modern interpretations.
Classic, colourful rag rugs such as Kuhmo bring rhythm and familiarity, while helping to conceal everyday wear in spaces like hallways and kitchens.
More contemporary designs such as Iris offer a softer, more minimal or expressive look, creating a calmer visual impression.
This balance makes it easy to find a rug that fits different interiors, from relaxed and neutral spaces to more colourful settings.
Crafted from recycled textiles
Rag rugs are made from recycled cotton textiles, traditionally referred to as “rags”, which gives the rug its name. As the material varies naturally, the yarn may change slightly even within the same rug.
This creates a subtly lively surface, where small variations in texture and tone are part of the character. Rather than being imperfections, these details reflect the handcrafted nature of the rug and make each piece unique.
Designed for everyday use
Rag rugs are lightweight, durable and easy to handle, making them ideal for everyday living. They work well in kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms and hallways, where both practicality and comfort are important.
Their breathable structure and flexible nature make them especially suitable for spaces that require regular use and movement.
Easy care and maintenance
Rag rugs are easy to care for and designed for practical use. Many of our rag rugs can be hand washed using a flat wash, making them a convenient choice for spaces where frequent cleaning is needed.
